Halvah is such a delicacy.
This sesame candy has been a part of my childhood, my mom used to buy it from stores that carried it in big round blocks and would slice up a piece for you, like a slice of cake. We used to spread it on bread with butter. I especially liked the chocolate covered one. Ahh, the memories.
Halvah is made of tahini, or sesame butter and it is very rich in minerals like calcium, iron and magnesium and vitamins like E and B complex. Tahini is also very high in protein and healthy fats.
However, store bought tahini is often loaded with sugar, corn syrup, additives and chemicals.
This version of a halvah spread is so delicious and much healthier and super easy to make.
In a large cup combine:
1/4 cup organic raw sesame butter (tahini)
1 tablespoon coconut butter
1-2 tablespoons raw organic honey
1 tablespoons raw cacao powder
Mix well until smooth.
You can use it as a dip for strawberries, spread it on sliced banana, use it as a nut butter alternative on rice cakes, or any other way you like.
Enjoy!
