My Favorite Food Finds
Hi Loves,
Today I wanted to share with you some of my favorite food finds.
I mostly cook with wholesome and natural ingredients, make most of my meals from scratch and I recommend to my clients to do the same. But sometimes a good food product can be a life saver! It can save you time and can be a much healthier option than a fast food take out or processed and refined packaged meals and snacks.
Here are recent favorite picks:
Canned Beans
Soaking and sprouting beans is ideal but a good quality can of beans can make a meal in a few minutes!
Canned beans, chickpeas and lentils are already cooked and ready to eat and you can add them to salads, make them into hummus, cook them in chilis and add them to soups. They are versatile and delicious.
I recommend organic beans that have no salt added. Eden Organics is a good brand.
Crackers And Bake Mixes By Simple Mills
I have been leaning away from products that are made with grains flours such as breads, crackers and other baked goods and gradually leaning into baking with almond flour and coconut flour. There are wonderful recipes for baked products that you can find on my website, online and on YouTube but truth be told, sometimes I’m too busy to bake. That is why I was so happy to discover Simple Mills. They have almond flour crackers, bread mixes and muffin mixes. Look for them at healthful stores or online. I buy mine at Amazon Fresh.
TruRoots Organic sprouted Grains and Beans
I absolutely love this company who makes delicious sprouted quinoa, mung beans, lentils and more. I always keep a few of these at home for times when I didn’t get a chance to soak and sprout my own beans and grains. They need to be cooked but they cook fast compared to regular dry grains and beans.
Fruit/Nut Bars
I like to make my own nut/date balls and bars like my Nutella Chocolate Balls but I always keep some Fruit/Nut bars like Lara Bars in my pantry. Look for bars that contain only dry fruit like dates and nuts like cashews or almonds with no sugar added. Lara Bars come in a wide variety of flavors and simple, whole ingredients.
I hope you find these recommendations helpful. Please note that I included a couple of affiliate Amazon links, if you buy through these links, I get a small commission, but I only recommend products that I use myself, that my clients use and that I absolutely love.
I would love to hear about your favorite food finds, please share them in the comments.
xoxo Rachel
I’m going to make your health/fruit bars as they sound yummilicious!
Thanks as always for the helpful resources–some I’m using and some I just became aware of because of you.
Thanks, Rachel. xo
Let me know how you like them Lore.
I’m definitely a fan of fruit and nut bars, Rachel. They’re great at staving off hunger when one is stuck in a traffic jam and nowhere near a proper meal.
I always make sure to have several cans of chickpeas and black beans in my cupboard. They are go-to staples.
Yes, they are an excellent in between meals solution.
I like adding high quality organic frozen spinach in a pinch to a dish as well as frozen organic berries for the same reason. The frozen berries though make taking them to work to eat “cool” as they stay cooler longer on hot summer days. My final pick is using rice wraps at a substitute for bread in making thai inspired roll ups
I love rice wraps, in fact making some today 🙂
Thank you for sharing these Rachel. I’m So into natural bars right now 😉
YUM!
I, just like you, enjoy cooking/baking from scratch. The love we add in the food preparation is the secret ingredient to the healthy and delicious foods we serve our family and friends.
Cindy, one day we will cook together!!!
Thank you for sharing you favorite things to make it easy to eat healthily! Your Nutella chocolate balls sound amazing and I am grateful for the recipe! Thank you so much!
