The year is almost at an end and for many women it means letting go of their healthy practices as they indulge in the holiday season.
Ending the year on a healthy note will help you set yourself up for a healthy new year. You will also give yourself an internal message that living healthy is part of your life, not something you practice periodically.
Here is a wonderful Goodbye to 2019 practice that will help you create a powerful closing ceremony for the passing year and greet the new one with inspiration and excitement.
Get a notebook and pen and carve some time for reflection and journaling.
Adjust, don’t abandon
It is ok to enjoy the holiday season and the goodies it has to offer. Make a list of how you will treat yourself, what practices you will relax and what practices you will keep. Your healthy routines will work best when they are flexible and when you allow yourself to have pleasure and enjoyment, otherwise you can fall into the trap or ‘all or nothing’ and abandon your healthy lifestyle completely.
Gratitudes and appreciations
Make a list of all the ways you took care of yourself in 2019. Nothing is too small or insignificant. List every healthy choice you made, even if it wasn’t perfect or consistent. Then express thank you and appreciation for all your efforts, big and small. Self appreciation and a feeling of gratitudes is the best way to keep yourself inspired and motivated.
Lessons learned
What did you learn in 2019? What are some of the things you would like to change? What are the things you would like to carry over to 2020? What are the things you would like to leave behind and let go off? This a a wonderful way to do some decluttering of your patterns, behaviors and practices so that you are freer and clearer going forward. Remember to do this practice without self blame or self judgement. The only way to make a positive lasting changes is with self love.
When you are done, thank 2019 for all it’s gifts and lessons and bless it with love. You might want to write the passing year a goodbye card, or light a candle or draw a picture. Do it in a way that is meaningful and heartfelt for you.
I would love to hear about your process of Goodbye to 2019. Share it with us in the comments.
xoxo Rachel
I love the “adjust, don’t abandon” concept! I live by that theory. No guilt, no shame… just adjustment. We cannot get it wrong.
What a switch up from the typical exercise of listing what we accomplished in the previous year. YES! I’d rather list all the ways I took care of myself in 2019. How did I nurture myself? How did I tend to my health needs? YES! YES! YES! This will create a powerful momentum to keep a list active in the new year.
Rachel, you always inspire me to live a healthier life!
Seasons Greetings with Love & Light you and yours…
XOXO
Thank you so much Cindy, I appreciate your words and so glad this resonated with you ❤️
